URGENT: Donations needed for Nepal (updated 5/14)
The situation is urgent. Salvation Army disaster teams in Nepal need money to buy more food, water and supplies for earthquake survivors in Kathmandu, nearby cities and outlying villages. Please give what you can.
In the outlying villages, a Salvation Army disaster team – traveling on foot – transported thousands of pounds of food to nine villages. They spent hours carrying the food up a mountain, at one point traversing a 170-yard footbridge. Earlier, the teams provided food and tents to 225 families in four villages. Watch footage of a rural damage assessment.
In Kathmandu and nearby cities, local officials have asked The Salvation Army to manage several tent-cities and provide provisions such as rice, noodles and 5-liter bottles of water. Plans are in place to provide food to an additional 800 households, and shelter to 1,000 households.
Salvation Army disaster teams also seek out homeless families and help them directly, as seen in this powerful video:

Salvation Army officials believe these relief efforts will last long into the future.
“Our efforts in Nepal will likely span the coming months and even years,” said Lt. Col. William Mockabee, Executive Director of The Salvation Army World Service Office. “Monetary support of this kind not only goes toward providing relief immediately following a disaster, but allows us to serve long after to make sure that communities are rebuilt.”
Monetary donations are the most critical need. Every dollar of your gift will be used to help earthquake survivors. Giving is easy:
