Roseville, Minn. – For the second year in a row, Shakopee High School students have won a pep fest with the Minnesota Vikings, after donating more than 4,400 food and clothing items to The Salvation Army. The event will take place at Shakopee High School on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway and others will be on hand to congratulate the students and talk about the importance of volunteering.

Shakopee High School was one of 11 metro area schools to compete in the 3rd Annual Warm & Fed Challenge. The students went head to head to collect food and winter clothing for The Salvation Army, bringing in more than 9,500 items to help those in need. Since the event began in 2013, it has raised over 31,000 items of clothing and food for The Salvation Army.

“This is such a blessing for us and the people we serve,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities Commander of The Salvation Army. “It’s amazing to see young people donating like this. And a special thanks to the Minnesota Vikings for celebrating the students in this way.”

The other schools that competed in 2015 are: Anoka High School, Thomas Edison High School, Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, Patrick Henry High School, Roosevelt High School, Southwest High School, Higher Ground Academy, White Bear Lake Area Learning Center, Great River School and Minnehaha Academy.

The Warm & Fed Challenge was created by JD STYLE Group and is sponsored by Accurate Home Care and the Jefferson Awards.
