Services for TC federal employees ending 2/4

Jan 31, 2019

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The last day The Salvation Army will provide food and financial assistance, as resources allow, for Twin Cities federal employees impacted by the government shutdown will be Monday, Feb. 4. Donate now.

Food shelf services, gas vouchers, and utility assistance will be available on Feb. 4 from 8 a.m.–3 p.m. at 2001 Killebrew Dr., Suite 460, Bloomington (South Loop Office Park, located across the street from the south side of Mall of America).

These services are available for any federal employee who lives in the Twin Cities and has been affected by the government shutdown. To receive services, guests must bring their federal ID and bill verification. Assistance amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis.

After Feb. 4, federal employees can seek assistance at any Salvation Army worship and service center in the Twin Cities (find locations).

“The Salvation Army is focused on meeting the needs of federal employees who are experiencing financial hardship,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division.

Donations of food and money are still needed. Nonperishable foods can be given at the Killebrew Drive location. Monetary donations can be made in three ways:

  • Give online
  • Mail a check designated “Government Shutdown” to The Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113
  • Call 651-746-3517 during weekday business hours

These services have been made possible through a coordinated effort between The Salvation Army, the Transportation Security Administration, and the federal government. The Salvation Army is an apolitical charity dedicated to meeting human needs without discrimination.

The Salvation Army Northern Division pledges to do the most good with your gifts of time and money, with 81 cents of every dollar going directly to services.
