‘Saint Grand’ strikes four times over the weekend
Roseville, Minn. – Affectionately dubbed “Saint Grand” by The Salvation Army, an anonymous Twin Cities donor is back, for the fifth year in a row.
On Friday, Nov. 27, someone dropped $1,100 in crisp, $100 bills into two separate kettles in Roseville, one at Byerly’s and one at the Cub Foods on Larpenteur. That’s $100 more than similar gifts in previous years.
Then, the secret donor struck again on Saturday, Nov. 28, again, dropping another $1,100 in the same two locations in Roseville, bringing the total to $4,400 for the weekend.
“We are so excited that Saint Grand is back and blessing us again with these donations this year,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities Commander. “This person quietly makes the most generous donations, without any recognition and we appreciate it so much.”
In 2014 Saint Grand made a splash with a $10,000 donation in a single kettle, and then followed up with seven more $1,000 gifts throughout the season.
These generous donations come at the perfect time for The Salvation Army. They have set an ambitious Christmas goal of raising $11.6 million. To date, they have raised about $1.6 million of that, compared to $2.1 million at this time last year.
