Saint Grand returns in 2019

Dec 13, 2019

Saint Grand is back.

The anonymous and affectionately-named donor has dropped cash donations of $1,500 into six red kettles at Cub grocery stores in Roseville and Arden Hills. The first donation arrived Nov. 29 and the sixth arrived Dec. 12.

Saint Grand has been dropping bundles of crisp $100 bills into Twin Cities kettles every Christmas season since 2011, with each gift totaling at least $1,000. His or her identity remains a mystery.

This year’s gifts confirm an exciting trend: Saint Grand’s donations have increased by $100 every Christmas season since 2015.

Consider the following:

  • 2014: Seven gifts of $1,000
  • 2015: Nine gifts of $1,100
  • 2016: Seven gifts of $1,200
  • 2017: Eight gifts of $1,300
  • 2018: Nine gifts of $1,400

Excluding this year’s donations, Saint Grand has given at least $127,700 in cash to The Salvation Army since 2011.

“Thank you, Saint Grand – whoever you are,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “We appreciate the generosity of Saint Grand and the hundreds of bell ringers and kettle donors who are helping The Salvation Army fight for good this Christmas season.”

The Twin Cities Salvation Army hopes to raise $12 million during our 2019 Christmas Campaign, which runs through Dec. 31. About $3 million of this goal is expected to come from kettle donations.

Thousands of hardworking families are battling poverty in Minnesota and North Dakota. You can help them win by donating $25 a month or becoming a bell ringer. Join The Salvation Army this Christmas season and #FightForGood.
