Morrie’s holds 2nd annual Backpack Round Up
Roseville, Minn. – For the second year in a row, Morrie’s Automotive Group is collecting backpacks for The Salvation Army and donating school supplies for each backpack they collect.
Now through Sept. 7, you can drop off a new backpack at any Morrie’s location and they will fill it with $10 worth of pencils, notebooks and other back-to-school essentials that many low-income families cannot afford.
You can also support the drive with your donation online.
Last year’s Backpack Round Up was a huge success (watch video). Morrie’s set a goal of 1,000 backpacks, but ended up collecting 4,200 of them – along with $42,000 worth school supplies for local kids.
“We were blown away by how generous Morrie’s and their customers were last year,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities commander for The Salvation Army. “For families who struggle to make ends meet, the extra cost of a new backpack and school supplies is often more than they can afford.”
While it won’t be easy to top last year’s success, Morrie’s says they hope to collect even more backpacks this year.
