Minnesotans do the ‘Max’ good with nearly $100K in gifts
The Salvation Army Northern Division came ever so close to hitting the $100,000 mark for Give to the Max Day in Minnesota. When all of the donations were counted, Minnesotans generously gave $98,880 to help people in need through our local programs. For two years in a row now, the total donations for the day topped $18 million for charities and schools across the state.
“This is such a tremendous start to our Christmas Campaign – thank you to everybody who donated, ” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities Salvation Army Commander. “To once again see the generosity of the state pour in on this day of giving is truly a blessing.”
Of the thousands of nonprofits that participate, The Salvation Army continually finishes the day in the top 20. In total, 750 people donated, making the average gift to The Salvation Army more than $130. The majority of the donations came from those living in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Edina, Bloomington, and Duluth, with three donors giving a whopping $2,000.
Before the day even kicked off, donations totaled more than $26,000 thanks to those who scheduled their gifts in advance of the event.
It’s a wonderful start to the season of giving for The Salvation Army.
“The red kettles will hit the streets next week across the Twin Cities and the state,” Strickler said. “If this is any indication of things to come, we pray for a tremendous outpouring of support during our kettle campaign.”
