Join us during National Salvation Army Week
President Dwight D. Eisenhower was correct when he declared the first National Salvation Army Week in 1954: “Among Americans, The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of brotherhood.”
More than 60 years later, National Salvation Army Week continues to serve as a reminder to Americans to give freely of themselves.
This year’s celebration runs May 11–17. The event is our way of thanking the volunteers and donors who’ve made The Salvation Army one of the world’s largest and most trusted charities.
“A special thank you to our donors and volunteers in Minnesota and North Dakota – you’ve made The Salvation Army Northern Division one of the top chapters in the U.S.,” said Lt. Col. Robert Thomson (pictured), Salvation Army Northern Division commander.
Top indeed: Last year, more than 91,500 volunteers and countless donors in Minnesota and North Dakota helped The Salvation Army provide food, shelter, youth services, disaster relief and more to about 415,000 people.
National Salvation Army Week is also a time for new volunteers and donors to join our important mission. Not only for the greater good, but because spring is our most difficult season.
“This time of year is typically when giving decreases but the need for Salvation Army services increases,” Thomson said. “Any extra help we can get right now will have a big impact.”
Please get involved by making a donation or signing up to volunteer.
