See ‘Donutland’ exhibit at Rosedale Center
The Salvation Army’s “Donutland” exhibit has arrived at Rosedale Center.
Donutland is a pop-up exhibit featuring 228 plush donuts, 180 inflatable donuts and 29 pounds of sprinkles – all organized into four imaginative displays that are fun, colorful, and larger-than-life (see photos).
The three-day exhibit opens Friday, June 7 – which is National Donut Day. The Salvation Army established the first National Donut Day in Chicago in 1938 to raise money during the Great Depression and to commemorate Salvation Army “Donut Girls,” who served donuts to U.S. soldiers battling on the frontlines of World War I.
The same, original-recipe donuts that the Donut Girls served 100 years ago are available for sale all weekend at PieCaken Bakeshop, located within the new food hall at Rosedale Center, Revolution Hall.
Donutland includes staff members who can answer questions about The Salvation Army and its historical connection to donuts.
Visitors are encouraged to share their Donutland photos on social media at #Donutland and @SalArmyNorth.
Can’t make it to Donutland? No problem. A number of Salvation Army locations and bakery businesses across Minnesota will celebrate National Donut Day with fun events and free donuts.
Donutland runs June 7–9 inside Rosedale’s east atrium during regular mall hours. The exhibit was created by Girl Friday Creative, with additional support from Revolution Hall, PieCaken Bakeshop, and Rosedale Center.
