Family Store in Henning to remain open
We have good news: The Salvation Army Family Store in Henning, Minn. isn’t closing after all.
The store was in danger of shutting its doors in late March due to several years of operating at a loss.
The local Salvation Army advisory board and Lt. Anthony Nordan (pictured), leader of the Fergus Falls Salvation Army, created a six-month plan that they believe can turn the store around. The plan includes:
- The formation of a store advisory council
- Improving the store’s overall shopping experience
- Raising money to fund a part-time store manager
- Securing more volunteers
The most important aspect of the six-month plan is volunteer recruitment. Without an adequate number of volunteers, the store will not be sustainable. To learn more about volunteering or to sign up, call Lynne at 218-739-9692 ext. 17.
Proceeds from the Henning store fund vital Salvation Army programs that serve struggling individuals and families in Otter Tail County.
The store’s long-term viability will be reassessed on or soon after Sept. 30, 2019.
