Unique Super Bowl items going up for auction
The Salvation Army is hosting a live eBay auction featuring unique items left over from Super Bowl LII – including banners large enough to cover the side of a house. View the items on eBay.
Among the auction items:
- Dozens of vinyl or cloth barrier covers, sized 3 feet by 8 feet. Each includes a Super Bowl or NFL logo on one side and a sponsor logo on the other (pictured at right).
- Three massive banners made of thick vinyl. One of the banners is a 2017 Minnesota Vikings team photo measuring approximately 30 feet by 25 feet and weighing about 500 pounds. The other two banners (pictured below) depict Patriots QB Tom Brady and Eagles QB Nick Foles, respectively. Each of these banners is even larger and heavier than the Vikings banner.
- Several banners, sized 8 feet by 8 feet or 13 feet by 13 feet, that depict popular NFL players such as Rob Gronkowski, Cam Newton and J. J. Watt.
These and other Super Bowl-themed items will be up for auction until bidding ends on Tuesday, April 10.
“These items are completely one-of-a-kind – perfect for sports collectors or for decorating a man cave,” said Michel Wong, Salvation Army marketing and product development director.
Winning bidders must pick up their item(s) in person at designated Salvation Army Stores within the Twin Cities, including those in Bloomington, Burnsville, Elk River, Fridley, and St. Paul. Due to restrictions, The Salvation Army cannot ship any of the items or use its donation trucks to transport them to winning bidders.
The NFL donated the auction items to The Salvation Army through a joint effort to divert waste generated by Super Bowl LLI.
“The NFL’s efforts to divert waste align with the mission of Salvation Army Stores: to keep secondhand items out of the trash, repurpose them, and use them for good,” said Wong, who has been working with the NFL on this project for about a year.
Auction proceeds will help fund The Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center in Minneapolis, which provides free or affordable inpatient addiction recovery services for men.
