Cool event: Kickoff on Ice on Friday, Nov. 16

Oct 25, 2018

Help the Twin Cities Salvation Army ring in a new Christmas season on Friday, Nov. 16 with a day of bell ringing and the coolest event in town: the 2018 Kickoff on Ice.

Kid hockey players ring bellsThe day will feature volunteer bell ringers collecting donations in iconic red kettles from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. at all metro Cub stores and at Mall of America. As a special bonus, Cub will match all kettle donations made Nov. 16-17, up to $20,000.

The celebration will continue at 7 p.m. with our official Kickoff on Ice event during the University of Minnesota Men’s Hockey home game vs. St. Lawrence University. Commemorative rally towels will be handed out as fans enter the arena. In addition, The Salvation Army will be featured throughout the game, including fun on-ice games and antics.

Game tickets are available for purchase at a discount. Use the discount code 2018SalvationArmy to buy tickets for as low as $20 per seat. The discount code also works for the U of M Men’s Hockey game on Saturday, Nov. 17.

Ready, set, ring!

Happy bell ringersYou can help The Salvation Army fight for good by signing up to ring.

Bell ringing is a fun and easy way to help people in need. You’ll raise an average of $30 per hour – enough to provide a homeless person with a night of shelter, a hot shower and a warm meal.

Our red kettles will be stationed at a limited number of Twin Cities locations until Wednesday, Nov. 21. The kettles will then be in full force from Black Friday until Christmas Eve at 370 Twin Cities locations.

The Twin Cities Salvation Army hopes to raise $11.9 million during its 2018 Christmas Campaign, which runs through Dec. 31. About $2.5 million of the goal is expected to come from kettle donations.

Poverty is an everyday battle that families don’t always win. Thankfully, there is an army of loving people like you who fight on their behalf. Your generosity puts food on their table, presents under their tree, and joy in their hearts. Join the fight for good by donating online or at a red kettle, becoming a volunteer bell ringer, or recruiting your own army of fundraisers at FundraiseForGood.org
