2014 Rock the Red Kettle Kickoff
Date: Saturday, November 8
Time: 8 a.m.
Venue: Cub Foods
The Salvation Army will launch its annual Red Kettle Campaign on Saturday, Nov. 8. The day will start with an 8 a.m. kickoff event at Cub Foods in Uptown Minneapolis. The festivities will feature several Minnesota sports icons, including Paul Molitor, who will make his first appearance as The Salvation Army’s Twin Cities Christmas Campaign chairman.
“I am honored to be chairman of this year’s Christmas Campaign, and am privileged to be a part of the life-changing services to so many families and individuals in the Twin Cities,” Molitor said.
Also appearing will be college’s oldest football trophy, the Little Brown Jug. It is back in the possession of the Minnesota Golden Gophers after a 30-14 win over Michigan earlier this year. Fans can take pictures with the jug and touch it for good luck in the lead-up to the Gophers’ game that day against Iowa.
After the kickoff ceremony, volunteer bell ringers – aka Rock Stars – will spread out all over the metro area to collect donations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can help by giving at one of the iconic red kettles outside any metro Cub Foods store or Mall of America.
Throughout the day, listen along on KOOL108 as we salute our bell ringers and share stories of hope made possible by red kettle donations. KOOL hosts will even stop by some of the kettles to report on the fun that’s happening in all corners of the Twin Cities.
