Coats for Kids and Families winter gear collection

Event Details

Date: September 8 - September 22, 2014

Time: All Day Event

Venue: Drop-off donations at all Hornbacher's locations or the Fargo Salvation Army

We all know how brutal winter can be in our area. We need the help of the community to ensure that everyone who needs warm winter gear – both children and adults – can get it. We are blessed to live in a generous community that helped nearly 1,300 people received winter gear last year.

Give Coats

Donations can be dropped off at any Hornbacher’s location from Sept. 8-22. You can also bring donations to the Fargo Salvation Army, 304 Roberts St., during normal business hours which are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. – noon and 1-4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – noon.

While all winter items are needed, school-age children’s winter coats, snow pants, gloves, hats and boots are especially important.

Give Money

Financial donations are also welcome and help us ensure we have enough coats to meet the demand in a variety of sizes. You can easily give online right now.  You can also mail or drop off a check with “coats” written in the memo line to: The Salvation Army, 304 Roberts St., Fargo, ND 58102.

This year our goal is to ensure that everyone who needs warm winter gear can receive it, as last year there were about 550 children and adults who we were unable to serve due to a shortage of available supplies.

Program Partners

Thanks to our generous program partners who help pick up and clean the donated items, sort donations to prepare them distribution, and promote the drive (no donation drop-offs to these locations, please). This year’s partners are: Sanford Health, The Fargo-Moorhead Association of Realtors, Scheels Arena, the Fargo Force, Healthcare Environmental Services Inc. (HESI), Integrity Windows and Doors, Camelot Cleaners, and Midwest Communications and their affiliated stations.
