$1 Million Community Challenge Match happening now until Dec. 31

Dec 11, 2023

The Salvation Army’s $1 Million Community Challenge Match is happening now through New Year’s Eve.

Help us bless Twin Cities families by giving to The Salvation Army. Your gift will provide food, shelter and care for our neighbors in need during the Christmas season and year-round.

Many donors have already given this season and are challenging others to match their generosity this Christmas. Our goal is to raise an additional $1 million by Dec. 31. Will you match their generosity with a donation of your own?

Here are four easy ways to give:

  • Donate online
  • Give at a Red Kettle anywhere in the Twin Cities
  • Call our Development Team at 651-746-3491 during business hours
  • Mail a check to The Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113

Stories of Impact

The success stories below illustrate how your donation will bless people in need during the Christmas season and throughout 2024.

Lauren

Lauren spent decades battling addiction, physical abuse, and homelessness. After her daughter was born, she wanted to change her life but nobody would give her a chance. “I worked hard to get on housing lists but I hit barriers because of my past,” she said. The Salvation Army believed in Lauren and helped her by providing affordable housing and case management support. Today Lauren is happy, healthy, and sober. She is a wonderful mother with a permanent home and a bright future. Watch a touching video about Lauren.

Carlos

Carlos and his family became homeless after a tragic string of events. First, their rental home was destroyed by vandalism. Then, Carlos was injured and stuck in a wheelchair for months, unable to work. The family spent weeks living in their minivan in the dead of winter. The Salvation Army helped by providing food, clothing, gas cards, and financial assistance. Today, Carlos is back at work and his family has a new apartment. “Thank you to all the people who donate to The Salvation Army,” Carlos said. Read more about Carlos

Orlando

Orlando lost his job due to diabetes complications. Unable to work, the 85-year-old drained his savings account and eventually became homeless. He spent two years on the streets, in terrible health, unable to afford the medications he required, forgotten by the world. His life changed when his friend brought him to The Salvation Army. Today, Orlando lives in our Booth Manor senior housing facility, and he has the medications he needs. “After two years on the streets, this place is a miracle for me,” Orlando said. This holiday season, The Salvation Army is calling on all of our supporters to Love Beyond. #LoveBeyond is a national Salvation Army campaign that encourages people to put love above all else, in order to show families in need that love exists beyond their most difficult situations – be it hunger, overdue bills, eviction, addiction, and other hardships. Join us by giving a donationsigning up to volunteer, or ringing bells at a Red Kettle.
