Great Northern blesses Hope Harbor residents
The Oakdale-based company purchased a $25 gift card for each resident of Hope Harbor, a 96-unit supportive housing complex located next to our Harbor Light Shelter in downtown Minneapolis.
Denise (pictured above) has been living at Hope Harbor for a year. She was thankful for her gift card, with plans to use it to buy baking ingredients.
David (pictured, right), 58, was also thankful for his gift card.
“Believe me, it’s going to get spent up,” he said with a smile. “I’m going to buy some bread and some fresh eggs.”
David loves Hope Harbor. He’s had a hard life, and now he feels like he’s found a home.
“It’s tough out there,” he said. “I’m grateful to be here at Hope Harbor. The staff members go out of their way. They help me spiritually, physically, and mentally.”
“The holidays are a joyful time, but for a lot of residents here, they can be challenging,” said Hope Harbor case manager Bronwen Tynddol. “Beyond the gift cards that Great Northern gives is the sentiment behind it. That in turn makes our residents spread the love unto other people, and it keeps growing, and growing, and growing.”
