Rochester’s Winter Warming Center

Added on Friday, January 25, 2019

The holiday season is a special time for everyone: snowmen and snow angels, time spent with family and friends, and Christmas decorations everywhere you turn.

But with winter also comes the freezing-cold temperatures that put some of our neighbors at risk. Thanks to your donations, the Rochester Salvation Army at 20 NE First Avenue in Rochester, MN is able to help these people through our Winter Warming Center, located on the second floor of our worship and service center. The warming center is open from 7 p.m.–7 a.m. whenever the temperature reaches 0 degrees or below. Last year, the warming center served an average of 35 people each night the center opened, and we expect to serve even more this winter.

The warming center includes a place for visitors to sleep, eat, shower, and even wash and dry small loads of laundry. Each morning, visitors can come downstairs to enjoy coffee and donuts.

The Winter Warming Center would not be possible without the help of volunteers. If you’d to help, please contact Alex at 507-288-3663 or fill out out an online application. Shifts run from 7 p.m.–1 a.m. and 1 a.m.–7 a.m.
