How can you have fun, support a great cause and earn a free ticket to the Minnesota State Fair? It’s easy: Volunteer to help fair goers park their cars at The Salvation Army’s Booth Brown House in St. Paul during the Great Minnesota Get Together.
From Aug. 23 through Sept. 3, State Fair goers can park for $15 on the grounds of Booth Brown House at 1471 Como Ave. W., just three blocks east of the fairgrounds. Volunteers share the duties of collecting cash from drivers, directing them into the lot, and guiding them into specific parking spaces. Training, water, coffee, and snacks are provided.
There are three volunteer shifts for four to five people available every day of the fair:
- 7:45 a.m.–12 p.m.
- 11:45 a.m.–4 p.m.
- 3:45–8 p.m.
Volunteers must be 16 or older (12 and over can volunteer with an an adult) and able to stand or walk for the entire shift. Wear comfortable shoes and come prepared to get your steps in!
Parking proceeds support Booth Brown House, The Salvation Army’s youth shelter and supportive housing program (related story).
