Double your gift during ‘Rock the Red Kettle’ Nov. 9
Roseville, Minn. – The Twin Cities Salvation Army will kick off a new season of bell ringing this Saturday, Nov. 9 during Rock the Red Kettle 2013.
After an 8:30 a.m. ceremony at Cub Foods in south Minneapolis (5937 Nicollet Ave.), hundreds of volunteer bell ringers – aka “Rock Stars” – will staff kettles from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. at 56 Twin Cities metro area Cub Foods stores and Mall of America.
In addition to hosting the event, Cub Foods will start the kettle season by making a huge monetary donation.
“Last year’s Rock the Red Kettle raised a record-setting $113,000 – our goal is to shatter that record this year,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities Salvation Army commander, adding that KOOL 108 will broadcast the day’s activities.
Kettle donations fuel Salvation Army programs that are needed both year-round and immediately: On Monday, nearly 650 families signed up for Christmas assistance on the first day of registration.
Now through Christmas Eve, there are more than 120,000 hours of bell ringing available at 500 Twin Cities metro area kettle sites.
