Supply Drives

Want to do a coat drive at your business? Is your civic group looking to collect school supplies for needy kids? How about making birthday cake kits for one of our food shelves? We can partner with you on all kinds of supply drives.

Coat drives

Our annual Coats for Kids collection happens in early October, but we often partner with businesses for other coat drives during the year. (Learn more.)

Hygiene items, clothes and blankets for our shelters

We always welcome hygiene items, gently-used clothing and blankets at any of our shelters, including Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota’s largest shelter for adults. For more information on Harbor Light donations, call 612-767-3108.

To find out about shelter needs in your area, enter your ZIP code below. You will be directed to your local Salvation Army and can speak with them directly about their current needs.

A special note about disasters

Supplies drives during disasters happen on a case-by-case basis. However, goods are not always the best remedy for the help and healing needed by disaster survivors. Sometimes we are told by authorities that immediate shipments of things like clothing, blankets and hygiene products will actually create more harm than good.

One thing is certain, in a disaster a monetary gift is the best way to offer swift comfort to survivors, as it allows us to focus on the most pressing need, be it water, meals or recovery supplies. Your gift will be used in recovery by Salvation Army leaders who have years of experience in responding to floods, fires and other large scale disasters.

If you’d like to organize a supply drive in the Twin Cities, please contact our Social Services Director at 651-746-3541. For Greater Minnesota and North Dakota, enter your ZIP code below to be directed to your local Salvation Army.
