Special Report 2012, Part 4: Hunger

More people than ever are finding it hard to put food on the table and they are coming to The Salvation Army for help. In the past four years, the number of hot meals we’ve served in the Twin Cities has jumped from 560,000 to 915,000. Meanwhile, use of our food shelves has ballooned from 26,000 to 78,000 families.

Those numbers have nowhere to go but up in 2013, a problem compounded by the current U.S. drought that is expected to drive food prices higher.
