Special Report 2012, Part 1: HeatShare
HeatShare is a Salvation Army program that provides emergency utility assistance for low-income seniors, disabled people and families with no place left to turn. Funds are typically used to pay for natural gas, oil, propane, wood, electricity and emergency furnace repairs (Donate online). The program is offered at most of our operation centers in Minnesota.
Here’s an in depth look at the HeatShare program and a story of how the program helped Mike Peterson after unforeseen hardship introduced him to three terrifying words: shut-off notice.
