Emergency Disaster Services team

We never know when the next disaster could strike one of our neighbors. We are looking for individuals to serve on the disaster team in Willmar. Advanced training is required. Please contact us for upcoming dates.

“Getting Ahead” program

This program helps families and individuals get ahead in life through teaching them practical skills. We need volunteers in these areas: meal preparation, child care providers, facilitators, and locations to host the program.

Transportation

Many individuals in our community need help getting to doctors appointments. The Salvation Army provides this service through volunteer drivers.

Music lessons

Some of our children would love to learn to play musical instruments. Could you share your talent with them? This opportunity (time, date, etc.) is flexible.

Prayer volunteer

We always encourage prayer for wisdom that we will have the knowledge to help individuals who come to us, for Jesus to be seen in each one of us as we serve Him with our whole heart, and for Strength and peace for each days task. This opportunity can be done from anywhere.

Seasonal & Holidays

Mobile Outreach Meals (MOMS) – Summer

Volunteers are needed to help serve meals to children in some of our poorest neighborhoods in the summer. We serve from June 12 – Aug. 18, Monday – Friday (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.). There are eight sites, including three parks. Come join the fun with the Growmobile, Hawk, 4-H, Willmar Food Shelf, Willmar Education.

Bell Ringing – Nov. and Dec.

The easiest way to help from early November through Christmas Eve is to ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles, raising the funds that change lives all year long. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $30 per hour – enough to provide a family with two bags of groceries. Sign up online for a bell ringing shift.
