MLK Day volunteer opportunities available in the Twin Cities
Adults and youth ages 16 or over are invited to sign up for a special day of volunteer opportunities at The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center in Minneapolis on Monday, Jan. 16.
About 45 people are needed for a Martin Luther King Day of service, starting at 8 a.m. Volunteers are asked to commit to four hours, but are welcome to stay until 5 p.m.
The morning starts with a gathering in the Harbor Light Center chapel, then groups will divide up to help with the following projects: serving meals, assisting with laundry and housekeeping, painting rooms, and office work.
To volunteer at the MLK Day of Service, simply sign up online.
If you are signing up with a group or have a preference for a certain project, please contact Deidre Hoppe at Deidre_Hoppe@usc.salvationarmy.org or by calling (612) 767-3100 ext.3154.
Preferences will be taken into account when assigning volunteers, but project assignments cannot be guaranteed. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
