Volunteering

It’s the kindhearted volunteers like you who help fulfill our promise to do the most good. Whether you have a specific talent to offer or simply an hour of your time, The Salvation Army is the place to turn your passion into action.

One you’ve found an opportunity that piques your interest, call Shannon at 320-252-4552 ext. 443 or sign up online, when available. It’s that simple. You may also complete a volunteer application and drop it off at our Worship and Service Center, 400 U.S. Highway 10 S.

Ongoing Opportunities

We are close to a bus route. We also offer free parking on site for volunteers and serve coffee all day. Currently, we need volunteers to:

  • Sort and organize donations in the food shelf (weekdays from 8:30-11 a.m. or  1-4 p.m.)
  • Assist with food preparation for the weekday lunch program (weekdays from about 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • Assist in the dining room for weekday lunch program (clear and reset tables, dish up desserts and offer a winning smile to guests)*
  • Assist in the dish room for weekday lunch program (wash dishes, pots and pans, and provide clean dishes to those in line)*

*Weekday lunch program volunteers receive a free meal.

Bell Ringing

The easiest way to help from early November through Christmas Eve is to ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles, raising the funds that change lives all year long. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $30 per hour – enough to provide a family with two bags of groceries. Sign up online for a bell ringing shift.

Don’t see an opportunity here for you? Call us. We’ll find a place for anyone who wants to help.
