The Twin Cities Salvation Army has come up with a hunger game where everyone wins: You get to see the new Catching Fire movie before anyone else, and thousands of dollars is raised for local food programs.

Though fundraising for this event to earn free tickets ended on Nov. 18, you can still join our Walk to End Hunger team and raise life-sustaining dollars for meals in our local programs.

Being part of this Salvation Army effort is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Join The Salvation Army’s “Walk to End Hunger” team. Walking on Thanksgiving is optional.
  2. For every $30 raised by Monday, Nov. 18, you will get one free ticket for the show, while supplies last. Great news, the registration fee counts toward your first ticket.
  3. We will email your tickets for the show (AMC Rosedale 14 at 8 p.m. on November 21).

Once you’ve joined our team, be sure to spread the word using #walktoendhunger.

What if you raise more than $30?

Awesome. More money for fighting hunger. For every $30 raised by Monday, Nov. 18, you will get one free ticket for the show, while supplies last. Great news, the registration fee counts toward tickets.

How long do I have to raise the money?

You must have at least $30 in online gifts by Monday, November 18 at 4 p.m. to be eligible for a ticket. Remember, your registration fee counts toward your first ticket.

What if I get cash or check donations?

This is an online fundraiser, so cash and checks don’t count toward your fundraising goal. You can bring cash and check donations to the movie premiere and put them in the red kettle at the door.

How will I know I’ve got a ticket?

You’ll receive an email from The Salvation Army with confirmation details and a link to print your tickets.

What’s the Walk to End Hunger?

The Walk to End Hunger is Thanksgiving morning at Mall of America. The walk was formed as part of the Twin Cities Hunger Initiative, a collaboration of hunger relief partner agencies that have developed a definitive plan to eliminate hunger in the Twin Cities. The event benefits 12 agencies working to fight hunger in the Twin Cities metro area, including the Twin Cities Salvation Army.

Do I have to walk on Thanksgiving morning?

No, walking is optional. However, the registration fee of $25 for adults (18 and older) covers your participation in the event. We would love to see you there, but attendance isn’t mandatory.
