Help The Salvation Army create change and provide hope all year round.

It’s the kindhearted volunteers like you who help fulfill our promise to do the most good. Whether you have a specific talent to offer or simply an hour of your time, The Salvation Army is the place to turn your passion into action.

First, find an opportunity below that piques your interest. Then sign up online. It's that simple.

  • Meal service assistance — individuals or groups (watch training video)
  • Office Help
  • Assist house keeping staff (sweeping, mopping, taking out garbage, laundry)
  • Ourdoor cleaning and maintenance (sweeping, pick up garbabge, plant flowers, clear sidewalks)
  • Sort clothes closet donations
  • Shelter volunteer advocate
  • Security/front desk assistant
  • Assistant for donation of goods and services
  • Assist with the coordination of music events
  • Take part in a volunteer performance or artistic experience

Share the spirit of the season with others by serving a meal at our Salvation Army shelter in Minneapolis. Volunteers can help serve a meal on the days prior to and including the holiday. Space is limited to just 5 to 6 volunteers per shift. All meal-serving volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Become a bell ringer and help The Salvation Army fill our most important volunteer need during the holidays. You’ll raise an average of $30 per hour for year-round programs that provide food, clothing and shelter. Kettle shifts are available from mid-November to Dec. 24. You can volunteer alone or organize a group from your workplace, church, or family. Sign up now for your ideal time and location!

Here are some additional ways to help:

  • Sort coats and other seasonal donations
  • Make bag lunches or serve supper for holiday employees

Don't see an opportunity here for you? Give us a call at 612-767-3100 ext. 3154. We'll find a place for anyone who wants to help.
