Baseball all-star sponsors coat drive for shelter

Added on Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Long-time Salvation Army Harbor Light Center supporter Justin Morneau is stepping up to the plate again. This time, he’s helping the shelter collect coats to give out on Thanksgiving and Christmas in exchange for autographed memorabilia.

Fans can snag a free 8×10 photo personally signed by the baseball all-star and former Twins player, just by bringing a new or gently-used coat to Fan HQ at Ridgedale Center before Nov. 30. Bring additional coats, and you’ll get one signed photo for each coat donated.

Have your own piece of memorabilia to get autographed? You’ll have to act fast. The first 333 people to donate a coat can choose between the signed photograph or a voucher to meet Justin in person at Fan HQ on Saturday, Nov. 30. Limit one in-person autograph ticket per person.

Want a photo but no coat to give? Fans can also make a cash donation online of just $33 to The Salvation Army to receive a signed photo by mail. For more information, visit justinmorneau.com or call Fan HQ at 952-545-6460.

The donated coats will be given to individuals without warm winter apparel as part of the upcoming holiday meals, which are open to the public. As Minnesota’s largest homeless adult outreach facility, Harbor Light Center offers a wide range of basic needs and rehabilitation services to anyone in need, without discrimination.
