Volunteer bell ringer smiles while ringing

It’s the kindhearted volunteers like you who help fulfill our promise to do the most good. Whether you have a specific talent to offer or simply an hour of your time, The Salvation Army is the place to turn your passion into action.

Bell Ringing & Holidays

Bell Ringing

The easiest way to help from November through Christmas Eve is to ring a bell at one of our iconic red kettles, raising the funds that change lives all year long. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $30 per hour – enough to provide a family with two bags of groceries. Shifts are two and a half hours each. Sign up online.

Seasonal: Thanksgiving Food Box Registration

Volunteers are needed each November to register families for Thanksgiving food boxes. Tasks include greeting families as they come to register and inputting client information in our database.

Seasonal: Christmas Food Box Registration

Volunteers are needed each December to input client information into our database for Christmas food boxes. Tasks include greeting customers as they enter, making sure they have the documents needed to register and entering client data.

Ongoing & Seasonal Opportunities

Ongoing Opportunities

  • Serve a community meal
  • Train to be an emergency disaster services volunteer
  • Data entry including entering stats, January through March

Seasonal: Summer Meal Program

We need an army of volunteers to help provide hot, nutritious meals for children as part of the Mobile Outreach Meals (M.O.M.) program. Volunteers are needed weekdays during the summer months at three different Fargo parks. Work with Salvation Army staff to set up, serve the meal and clean up. Interact with the children during the mealtime, with the option to stay after meal service to provide activities, such as teaching a sport, a craft, or playing an organized game.

The time commitment is one hour for meal service and two hours if staying for the activity. Volunteers must be over the age of 18 and are required to pass a background check. To sign up, call Kimberly Wagner at 701-356-2688.

Don’t see an opportunity here for you? Call us. We’ll find a place for anyone who wants to help.
