Salvation Army and Shopko partner for school supply drive

Added on Monday, July 10, 2017

It may be early July but it is not too early to help a child start the upcoming school year off on the right foot. Thanks to a partnership between The Salvation Army and Shopko’s “Tools for School” program, hundreds of kids in Minnesota will be helped.

From now until Aug. 11, Shopko stores across Minnesota (see complete list at bottom) will collect school supply donations and your local Salvation Army will give the donated supplies to families in your community. To donate, visit Shopko stores and look for donation bins similar to the photo at right.

“This is a wonderful partnership that was started in 2005,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson, Salvation Army Northern Division commander. “We see the need every day. Thanks to Shopko’s ‘Tools for Schools’ program hundreds of kids will be better prepared for that first day of school.”

By providing backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other school essentials, you can help make sure children and parents are able to focus on the excitement of that first day.

Financial gifts to purchase school supplies can also be mailed to The Salvation Army in your community, or you can donate online to give a student supplies.
