A life forever changed by The Salvation Army
After a day of volunteering at a Salvation Army Toy Shop, Joe Remley was at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis to see a friend when he ran into a custodian who offered to help find the right room.
On the walk in the hospital hallway the custodian noticed The Salvation Army shield on Joe’s jacket. Joe has been an Emergency Disaster Services volunteer for The Salvation Army Northern Division. When he realized the connection to the Army, the gentleman offered a story that should make every donor proud.
“Sixteen years ago I was homeless, and The Salvation Army helped me get back on my feet,” the man told Joe. “Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s a wonderful organization.”
Doing the most good isn’t a slogan – it’s a promise. The custodian’s story is proof of our promise fulfilled.
