Rock the Red Kettle event exceeds goal of $108,000
The Twin Cities Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign Kick Off – Rock the Red Kettle – raised $108,958.76 on Saturday, Nov. 10, a one-day record for kick off events. The final number included a matching gift of $10,000 from Cub Foods and Online Red Kettle donations of $33,260.80.
As for cash and checks in those little red kettles, that number hit $65,697.96. That is an average of $608.32 per kettle, which is double the $300 we typically raise in a kettle on a bell ringing day.
Volunteers, known as Rock Stars, collectively gave 1080 hours of time on Saturday rocking the red kettles from 8 a.m. to 6:08 p.m. More than 1,200 volunteers participated in the bell ringing and events for the day.
There are still 100,000 hours – make that 98,920 hours – of bell ringing time left for the Twin Cities Red Kettle Season which runs now through Monday, Dec. 24, every Monday through Saturday.
